Through the practice of various forms of mindfulness meditation, participants in a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course showed significant reduction in anxiety and stress when measured on performance tasks. Research is demonstrating that short bouts of stress as well as chronic stress is harmful to our immune systems and can create a greater susceptibility to the influenza virus. In a recent study, participants who exercised and/or used meditation had fewer severe respiratory illnesses than a control group who engaged in neither. Click here to read the entire article
